What size canvas should I get for above a sofa?
A picture over a sofa reads best at roughly two thirds of the sofa width. For a two-seater of about 160 cm that means something in the 51x61 to 61x76 cm range; for a three-seater of about 200 cm, 61x91 cm or larger. Below 40 cm wide it will look like a stamp on that wall.
How high should I hang it?
Center the image at about 145 to 150 cm from the floor, which is eye level for most people. Over furniture, leave a hand's width of wall between the top of the sofa back and the bottom of the frame: roughly 15 to 25 cm.
What is a good first size if I have no idea?
30x40 cm on paper or 30x46 cm on canvas. Big enough to be a picture rather than a photograph, small enough to fit almost anywhere, and cheap enough that getting it wrong is not painful.
Portrait, square or panoramic?
A single animal facing the camera almost always wants a vertical format, because the face fills a vertical frame better. Square suits a tight head crop. The panoramic sizes exist for a long, narrow stretch of wall, such as above a headboard or along a corridor.
Are the sizes in inches?
The printed sizes are metric. Where inches are shown on this site they are a rounded equivalent, so 30x40 cm is about 12x16 in and 61x91 cm is about 24x36 in.
Does a bigger size cost more to ship?

Will a large size still be sharp?
Before you order, the result screen shows the real detail in DPI for the size you have selected, so a size that would be pushing it is visible there rather than a surprise on delivery.
